January 23, 2018 — Hubbell Lighting says it has designed a “first-of-its-kind” luminaire for patient room lighting. The Remedi LED multi-function bed light consists of four distinct optical compartments.
For patient examination, Remedi utilizes a front optical compartment along with the ambient function to create a multi-source of light that reduces direct glare and delivers enhanced uniformity, says the company. A molded linear optic is incorporated into the exam compartment to direct light on the bed surface, while the ambient source provides an indirect contribution. Hubbell says this approach to exam illumination delivers over 100 average footcandles on the patient bed with a uniformity under 5:1 max:min.
Designed around a solid-state light source, the Remedi also uses an air gap between the optical housing and wire way, providing the option to incorporate a full-length, indirect night-light.
