In memoriam – Bruce Wesley MacGowan

April 15, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun

April 15, 2024 – With great sadness, Electrical Business Magazine reports the passing of Bruce Wesley MacGowan (Royal Pipe) on April 10, at home, with his daughters by his side. He was 67.

His obituary explains MacGowan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early February, and it progressed quickly.

I cannot remember when I first met Bruce, although I do remember confusing him with his late brother, Barry, all too often in my early days with Electrical Business Magazine.

Over time, I got to know Bruce better, as we would regularly chat over a smoke during various tradeshows, conferences, and (especially) golf tournaments. Besides a good laugh, he was always good for providing helpful advice … whether I asked for it or not!

(But that was part of his charm and, because of his advice, I tie my necktie much better!)

I will greatly miss not seeing him at upcoming industry events.

A visitation was held at Jersey’s Bar & Grill on Headon Road in Burlington on April 13. A memorial donation can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or Juravinski Hospital.
