March 11, 2014 – Philips boasts it has revolutionized the LED 60W-equivalent bulb with SlimStyle—a new shape promising the quality, omni-directional light of an incandescent while eliminating the bulky heat sink commonly found on LED bulbs.

Using mid-power LEDs developed at Philips Lumileds, the dimmable SlimStyle uses 10.5W of power and outputs over 800 lumens. “With this latest generation, we have demonstrated that the LED bulb can break with traditional design and that a value-priced offering can still deliver the innovation and light quality that consumers have come to expect from a Philips product,” said Bruno Biasiotta, CEO and president, Philips Lighting Americas.
