July 6, 2022 – In a joint recall with Health Canada and the U.S. CPSC, Schneider Electric is recalling various indoor/outdoor and OEM Square D QO Plug-on-Neutral (PON) loadcentres because they can overheat, posing thermal burn and fire hazards.
Schneider Electric explains the wire binding screw within the lug body could potentially not be torqued properly to the Plug-on-Neutral bar. Over time, this unsecured electrical joint could result in losing the neutral connection, and potentially lead to overheating at the load.
As of May 25 2022, the company has received one report of an incident in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received one report of an incident, and no reports of injuries.
In Canada, this recall involves about 289,000 units. “Free inspection and repair for [the] recalled product shall be provided,” says Schneider Electric.
