HD Electric debuts V-Watch personal voltage detector

September 22, 2014 | By Alyssa Dalton

September 22, 2014 – Worn on the outside of clothing, HD Electric says its V-Watch personal voltage detector alerts workers to the presence of electrical fields or energized equipment.

The unit is particularly useful during storm restoration work, says the company. Audible and visual alarms increase in frequency the closer the worker gets to energized equipment, says HD Electric, adding that typical warning distance is about 7 ft (2.13 m) from a 4kV AC conductor. A nylon carrying case lanyard stores the V-Watch when not in use and can be worn around the neck during use.
